Meal Planning Monday – July 25, 2016

I am a bit late in posting this week’s menu plan.   For sake of time, I’ll be posting them in a more condensed form.   We were fortunate to have had the farmhouse owner, Nancy, with us last week, and we so enjoyed the time spent getting to know one another a bit better.  Our gregarious grandson was immediately attached to her and was sadden to have her leave us so quickly.

Monday – Shepherd’s Pie – Peasant Bread (Sean Michael loved it.)
Tuesday – Roast Chicken, Potato Salad, Left over California Vegetables,
Fresh Strawberries, Lemon Cookies
Wednesday – Roast Pork, Applesauce, Grilled Potatoes, Peas, Peach Cobbler
Thursday – Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Mac and Cheese
Saturday – Pot Roast with potatoes and root vegetables
Sunday -Speghetti, Meatsauce and Sausage, Garlic Bread, Salad

Have a Yummy Week,

Lunch at The Farm Kitchen

After a very busy weekend, we decided to have a leisurely lunch out today at “The Farm Kitchen” at the Farm at South Mountain in Phoenix.   They will be closing on Saturday for the summer, and we wanted to enjoy the setting one more time.  The temperature today was about 93 degrees, so still comfortable under the shade trees.

Our pick for lunch was soup of the day and sandwiches.  My hubby had an Italian Sandwich of layered Italian meats, shredded Parmesan Reggiano & Asiago, red onion, pepperoncini, tomatoes, Romaine lettuce, and farmhouse vinaigrette on baguette.
My selection was Chicken BLTDA Sandwich with marinated chicken breast, crispy bacon, organic field greens, local dates, Granny Smith apples and tomato with basil mayo on potato bread.  Our soup selection was Turkey Chipotle Lentil.  Our food was freshly prepared and delivered at an outside window in a lovely basket.  You can go online to check out their yummy menus (website listed below.)

We truly had such an enjoyable day at the Farm at South Mountain.  We look forward to going back in the fall for lunch at the “Farm Kitchen” or Breakfast at the “Morning Glory Café.”

Down on the Farm – April in New York

South View Farm (April 2014)

How wonderful it is to be back at South View Farm for a couple of weeks.  This is such a peaceful, quite place to rest and relax.   We loved the snowy landscape and delighted in viewing it with hot chocolate in hand from the warmth of cozy kitchen/living area.  South View Farm is centrally located is just minutes away from surrounding towns and cities, Homer, Cortland, Ithaca, Binghamton.  Our daughter and her family live just 6 miles down the country road.   And for my husband, a Dunkin Donuts, just a few miles away in Whitney Point.

Our grandson makes himself quite at home here at the farm.  He and Grandpa had to go shopping  for activity books, games, and toys specifically for the farm.  He has is own special snack drawer in this beautiful country kitchen, and first thing, had to check that out.  And what could be better than cozying up to Grandpa as Sean Michael recovers from his tonsillectomy.

Our time here at South View is passing so quickly.   We are thankful for this wonderful respite and treasure the times spent here with family and friends.

Have a most wonderful day,Gen's-Signature
